What we’ll do during our adventure packed road trip
Itinerary
Day 1 - Islamabad
- Praying in Shah Faisal Mosque, the largest mosque in Pakistan and one of the most iconic landmarks in Islamabad
- Visiting the Pakistan monument, located at the Shakarparian Park
- Catching the sunset at Daman-e-koh, a viewpoint in the Margalla Hills National Park offering panoramic views of Islamabad. It's a great spot for photography and enjoying the natural beauty of the area
- For a taste of local cuisine and shopping, we’ll be exploring the F-6 Market
Day 2 - Islamabad → Naran
- We’ll stop to explore Abbottabad, a city with a pleasant climate and lush greenery whilst enjoying the best chapli kebabs!
- Balakot is a town located on the banks of the Kunhar River. We’ll stop along the way to Naran to explore and relax by the Kunhar River
- We’ll explore the Naran Bazaar to experience the local culture, buy traditional handicrafts, and interact with the friendly locals.
- We’ll be staying in Naran for the night
Day 3 - Chilas
- From Naran, we’ll take a Jeep Safari to the stunning Saif-ul-Mulook Lake, surrounded by snow-capped peaks and continue the journey on Horseback
- After this, we’ll stop by Batakundi and visit Lulusar Lake, the largest natural lake in Hazara division, offering serene views.
- We’ll head to Babusar Top for a mesmerising view of the Kaghan Valley. The journey itself offers scenic landscapes, and the top is a great spot for photography
- And we’ll visit Lalazar, a high-altitude plateau with lush green meadows and panoramic views of the surrounding mountains before arriving in the evening at Chilas.
Day 4 - Chilas → Fairy Meadows
- We’ll head off early morning from Chilas and take a break at Raikot Bridge for panoramic views of Nanga Parbat, the ninth-highest mountain in the world.
- The road from Chilas to Fairy Meadows will take us through the scenic Astor Valley. We’ll enjoy the views of lush greenery and snow-capped peaks.
- We’ll take a thrilling Jeep safari off the beaten track to Tattu village, enjoying the adventure and stunning landscapes during the ride
- We’ll then take horses from Tattu Village into Fairy Meadows, taking in the beautiful views along the way
- Exploring local cuisine and staying in Fairy Meadows for the night
Day 5 - Fairy Meadows
- We’ll be hiking from Fairy Meadows to Beyal Camp, the trek is 4-5 hours total and is easy to moderate. This trek offers breathtaking views of the world's ninth-highest mountain and takes you through lush meadows and alpine landscapes with views of Nanga Parbat
- Depending on the weather and the fitness of the group, we’ll camp the most famous trail from Beyal Camp to Nanga Parbat basecamp with a local hiking expert
- We’ll head back to Fairy Meadows for a campfire and BBQ
- We’ll also take lessons on how to start a campfire using two traditional methods
Day 6 - Fairy Meadows → Hunza Valley
- Short hike or Jeep Ride to Rakaposhi viewpoint, offering stunning views of the Rakaposhi mountain.
- We’ll reach the junction point of three great mountain ranges: Himalaya, Karakoram, and Hindukush. Take a moment to appreciate this geographical marvel.
- Explore local markets
- Campfire and eating traditional local food
Day 7 - Hunza Valley
- We’ll be visiting the ancient Baltit Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and learn about the history of the region. The fort offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
- Another historical site we’ll visit is Altit Fort. It's one of the oldest forts in the region and provides insight into the local history and architecture.
- Eagles Nest to catch the sunset, which provides a panoramic viewpoint of the stunning Hunza Valley
- We’ll be camping overnight in the picturesque Hunza Valley with campfires and lessons on woodchopping
Day 8 - Hunza Valley
- We’ll take a day trip to Khunjerab Pass, the highest paved international border crossing in the world, which connects Pakistan and China
- We’ll stop at Attabad Lake and take a boat trip through the stunning turquoise lake formed after a landslide in 2010
- Exploring the unique Passu Cones, a set of pointed peaks that are a notable landmark in the region
- Crossing the wooden and rickety (but safe) Hussaini Suspension bridge over the Hunza valley, with views of picturesque mountains
- We’ll be staying in Hunza Valley for the night
Day 9 - Hunza Valley → Naran (or Mingora)
- We’ll head of bright and early from Hunza Valley to head towards Naran whilst making regular stops, which include:
- Jalkhad
- Kaghan
- We’ll do white water rafting in the Kunhar River with the backdrop of beautiful mountains and serene nature
- We’ll be doing a campfire and reflecting on our journey so far
- We’ll stay the night in Naran
Day 10 - Naran → Islamabad
We’ll arrive in the late afternoon to Islamabad so this day will be for rest and exploring Islamabad by yourselves or together
Day 11, Morning - Islamabad
We’ll set off early in the morning for our flight back to our respective destinations and conclude our trip!
